WORSHIP WITH US

We are a safe, inclusive and welcoming place of worship in Sandston, Virginia,
located just minutes from the airport.

Worship offered at 9 AM & 11 AM each Sunday.

Children & Family

Corinth UMC is a place where children and youth are loved and nurtured, as well as a place where they grow and learn as they begin their faith journey.

Nursery: During Covid-19 we are not staffing our nursery but the nursery is available for parents and children.

Our Gathering Space adjacent to the Sanctuary is equipped with a closed circuit television and handicap restrooms that are child friendly for those who may need a quiet space but still wish to participate in the service.

Children: During Covid-19 we are offering socially distanced, Sunday School and music time at 10 a.m. on Sundays.

Youth: During Covid-19 we are offering hybrid Youth Sunday School class, where the Youth Room is open or the Zoom link is on for 10 a.m. on Sundays.   We are also offering socially distanced, masked mission work in person including making sandwiches for unhoused persons, writing encouragement cards for those who are ill or elderly, and more. To participate and for more details please contact the church office.

We feel strongly about the safety of all the children who walk through our doors.  See attached policy for details on protocols we have in place to ensure they remain safe:  Corinth UMC Child Protection

Music Ministries at Corinth

Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.

-Psalm 95:1

The fall is upon us and so are the many signs in nature. We get excited about schools starting up activities and anticipate the coming deluge of leaves, mums and pumpkins. The Chancel Choir meets on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. We welcome our new young voices blending in with returning choir members ready to lead the worship services in song. What joy this brings to Corinth!

Local sound experts have come in to help with the sound system and have made adjustments on the sound board. Thanks to all, especially our fearless technology crew, led by Rachael Buck and Sue Buck, who are making improvements in the sound for our worship services! This is not an easy task, and they and our local sound experts are to be rewarded and thanked for their efforts in time, energy, and expertise.

Handbell sounds are especially joyous anytime, and in particular, at Christmas. Please contact me by Thursday, October 7, if you or your family would like to participate in a handbell choir and give suggestions for the day of the week and times that you will be available to practice. This will help me in finding the best rehearsal times for the group. We could have a handbell workshop for a concentrated rehearsal for a few hours on a weekend, and then spread out the rehearsals during the weeks leading up to Christmas.

The children are singing some fun traditional sacred songs mixed in with enjoyable animal songs—rhythm instruments to be added. Come join the fun at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings!

Blessings,

Handbell ringing is fun and easy to learn. There are others who are learning to play, too. We need “extra hands!”

United Methodist Men

Corinth’s United Methodist Men (UMM) is a creative, supportive fellowship of men who seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow spiritually, and to seek daily his will. Our primary purpose is to declare the centrality of Christ in the lives of men and in all their relationships. We support the local and Church community through mission efforts. The UMM is always looking for opportunities to serve members of the greater Sandston community and share Christ’s message through our work. Please seek out an active UMM member to let him know if someone could benefit from our assistance.

The UMM meets on the first Saturday of each month in the Social Hall at 9:15 AM.  All men of Corinth are invited and welcome to join us to help us meet our missional goals.

The UMM sponsors an annual Brunswick stew sale made by one of the premier Brunswick Stew Masters who has been cooking for more than 50 years, George Daniel.   While we decided to take the year off in 2020, we hope to pick back up this tradition in the near future.  Thank you for making each year a sell-out!

We look forward to hearing from you,

W.G. Ellis, Corinth UMM President
